In Memory of Rodney Wiley

Rodney Fishing AngelEveryday I miss him
And I see his face so clear
What I'd give to hear is voice
If only he were here.

I can see him in my room
With his guitar playing songs
Just like it was yesterday
I can't believe he's gone.

He would sit and do his calligraphy
And make up cute little signs
Or practice doing pin stripping
For hours at a time.

Back behind a bar
There's not a drink he couldn't make
Or catch fish right and left
In the Delta or at some lake.

He could plant himself a garden
And make things grow just right
He would be there if you need him
No matter day or night.

They say the good die young
And that the strong survive
I don't know if that's true
I just wish he was alive.

Everybody knew him
He was truly one of the best
I'll never forget that day
When we layed him down to rest.

I'll love you forever and always.
